What people actually want from an AI beat maker
Usually a draft to build on: something to put the skeleton of the track in place, a groove that sounds right for a style you do not know well, or a way to spend less time digging through loop packs.
That does not require a trained model either. It requires that a few choices turn into something playable straight away.
What BeatMelo does inside
Each of the eight styles — Boom Bap, Trap, Lo-fi, Drill, House, K-Pop Dance, R&B and Jersey Club — carries its own rules: where the kick sits, where the snare lands, how the hats are subdivided, how ghost notes are placed.
Your BPM, bar count, energy and swing settings are applied on top, producing three variations. Lock the parts you like and regenerate only the rest.
There is no training data, and no sampling or imitation of existing loops.
How this relates to distributors' AI rules
Some distribution services set requirements for tracks made purely with AI: the track must not be 100% AI generated, and the training data behind it must not infringe third-party rights.
BeatMelo uses no trained model and holds no training data, and it outputs MIDI — you pick the sounds and build the rest of the track. Neither requirement is a problem for that way of working.
Approval is still each distributor's decision and their rules change, so check the current guidelines of the service you use before you release.
How this differs from AI generation
You get MIDI rather than audio, so the sounds are yours to choose. The note placement follows General MIDI, so the drum instrument that came with your DAW will play it as is.
Everything runs in the browser. Nothing is uploaded, there is no queue, and there is no limit on generations. The same settings give the same pattern.
Because there is no training data, you cannot ask for "a beat like that song". You steer with the style and the parameters instead.

Q&A
- Is BeatMelo an AI?
- No. There is no trained model. It assembles patterns from per-style rhythm rules and the parameters you set.
- Does the MIDI work in a DAW?
- Yes. It exports as separate Kick, Snare / Clap, Hi-hat and Percussion tracks using General MIDI Channel 10 placement, with tempo and time signature included.
- Can I keep the parts I like?
- Yes. Each part can be locked, so you can keep a kick that works and regenerate only the hats.
